Tourism is the 21st century’s number one industry, and handicraft is one of the fastest growing activities. Together they make a logical and powerful combination. But the linkage between tourism and handcrafts has not yet been fully explored, understood or developed, with a resultant loss of valuable revenue and job creation opportunities. Tourism provides a wide range of economic opportunities, especially for developing and least developed countries. This workshops was established to discuss the tourism industry’s potential to contribute to economic development and poverty reduction in Iran.
